Trieste 1935 - 1972.
The Triestine artist, prematurely passed away at the age of 36 in 1972, left a very strong mark - strictly upstream and always innovative in the language - in the Italian history of Art of the 50s and 60s. In particular the figurative cycle of the years 1956 - 1961 - documented in the catalogue published by the gallery for the retrospective exhibition of the Stables of Miramare Park in 1990 - is characterised by a freshness and an actuality which still leave us amazed and seems very close to the outcomes of the New German Expressionism of the 80s. Defined by a great broadmindedness and a subtle creative vein is also Miela Reina's production of the 60s, documented in the Electa catalogue published in 1980.
The Italian critic is still today very sensitive towards any kind of event about her, while in her city she is unanimously considered the strongest artistic personality of the second post-war period. The main museums of the region have dedicated to her important anthological exhibitions and in these years her biography - in terms of her presence in the catalogues and encyclopaedias of Italian Art - has been remarkably enriched. A great monograph comprising the whole course of her artistic life is about to be published.
In Italy the Galleria Torbandena is Miela Reina's sole agent.
